If you don't think Mia recognized Dahlia in the courtroom, when did she? Because I think by 3-5 Mia knows the twins and Morgan are working together.

Did she bring down a scrap book to show Diego her family and when flipping around realize all at once and then hurry to distract him before he could see? Afraid he might think her dedication wavering for the sake of family? That he might think worse of her if her dedication didn't?

Was it in those long lonely months after Diego was gone and while Dahlia still wandered free? When she was scrolling though Dahlias photo journal online in an attempt at investigation but was really just hate scrolling? Did she see an innocuous photo of a Japanese garden taken from the gate from the spring when the light hit the flowers just right and remember standing there. Taking it in. Before the Shrine maiden, an old woman, hurried her along for the twins test of power.

Was it as they hauled Dahlia away. Did she hiss under her breath how she was just like her mother. Ruining everything. Did she curse the Feys. The people who abandoned her. Her and her sister. Doesn't she know, this is all Her fault?

And Mia knows it's not. Isn't the reason for someone else's choices. But maybe she remembers, from behind the prison glass. Two little girls packing up their bag with not very many things. One collapsing into the other. Sobbing. The other, rounding on her to scream; This is all your fault. This is all Your fault.

Or maybe it's even later. A backhanded comment from Morgan. I heard you caught that little murderer. Congratulations, Mystic Mia. You may make a fine attorney yet. (As you don't a chief, Mia hears clear as day.) What a disgraceful girl. She hears Morgan sneer as she hurries to leave. You must not grow up like them. Morgan sweetly reminds her young daughter. Listen to mother.

And when the door slides closed Mia remembers the other girls Morgan used to sweetly remind. How it ended for one of them.

Not to be overdramatic, but I cannot overstate how appreciative I am for artists who, after this years-long AA7 drought, continue to draw characters like Uendo Toneido, Herman Crab, and SISTER IRIS.

They say the miracle never happen, but I say the miracle is all of you. Thank you for keeping the fandom alive.

14. Least favourite prosecutor?

hmmmm. honestly. it'd have to be edgeworth BUT SPECIFICALLY IN AA5. i loved edgeworth as a prosecutor in the trilogy but there was just...no fucking reason to bring him back in that capacity in dual destinies to me when the point was supposed to be focusing on all the new characters that were introduced....like. idk. they could've made APOLLO the damn prosecutor somehow (if edgeworth can play defense attorney then y'know.....) and i think it would've fit better than jamming edgeworth in there and being like "look!!! look!!! phoenix and edgeworth going up against each other again!!!! doesn't that make you want to buy our game!!!!!! buy our game!!!!!!!" if you're going to introduce new characters and new storylines then COMMIT TO IT!!!!!!!!!

15. Least favourite ship?

i suppose i don't really have one but that's just because i don't think about shipping in ace attorney at all anymore? not in romantic contexts at least (except to make jokes. i love jokes). i lose my mind over feenris art whenever i see it but it's more of an "AUGHHHH THE FUCKING IMPACT THEY HAD ON EACH OTHER'S LIVES" than an "AUGHHHH I NEED THEM TO KISS" sort of thing (very few people talk about iris. i have to take what i can get). i have wrightworth filtered out but it's not that i have an issue with it at all (you can find it on my blog even), it's just So Prevalent Everywhere that it eventually became such a chore to slog through wrightworth posts when looking through tags unrelated to wrightworth that i was like Fuck It and blocked it HAHA. i simply do not have a least favorite ship i'm afraid. shipping is just totally uninteresting to me in this particular fandom which i think makes sense because ace attorney is not a series that has ever heavily focused on romance.

34. Do you think Miles Edgeworth should get another Investigation-game or do you think another character deserves a spin-off?

give another character a spin-off 100%. give ema skye her own game where she's running around khura'in doing forensic science things. give kay faraday a game where she's acting as an actual vigilante. hell man i'd even take a game where trucy goes off on her own to do an international tour and gets wrapped up in the most wild cross-national investigation you've ever seen in your life. edgeworth has already been inserted way too many times into games that had nothing to do with him (like phoenix) as well as having TWO investigations games. give him a break.

36. Do you like where the franchise is heading or did you prefer the atmosphere in the original trilogy?

i do not like where the franchise is heading but that's just because it really and truly seems like the franchise itself has no fucking idea where it's heading. if they never released another ace attorney game i would be perfectly fine because the thought of an aa7 makes me cringe. i don't think it's going to fix anything i think it's going to make even more of a mess. if phoenix and edgeworth get shoehorned into one more case that doesn't concern them at all when they have so many new characters they're struggling to do anything with i'm going to secondhand embarrass myself out of my skin. Somehow. so yeah i prefer the atmosphere in the original trilogy but it's only because the original trilogy Somewhat Had Its Shit Together.

Okay, so... I just saw a post about how Godot and Iris should return in AA7(if or when that happens) specifically for the purpose of ending Phoenix Wright's story... by him dating or marrying Iris... like... that's the only way to end his character arc.

That just feels like shipping. Also, why does a character need to 'get his girl' to end his character arc?

but... then it got me thinking about something.

Phoenix Wright's arc as a main protagonist... already ended. It ended during the last case of the original trilogy. It ended with him and his friends/companions hanging out together after the trail.

Sure, you still play as Phoenix Wright in Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice... but his main story is finished.

The 3 games afterward were mainly about Apollo Justice. And now Apollo Justice's story ended with him staying in Khura'in to help the kingdom's legal system.

But like I was saying... Phoenix Wright's main character arc is already over. He'll still probably be used as a protagonist sometimes, but he isn't the main focus of the story now.

Let me know if you guys agree cause I just kinda thought of this.

Sighhh. My thing about the idea of another mainline AA game is like... I want it, of course, but god Miles' characterization in the franchise has been helmed so poorly from AAI onward. Not just him, of course, but he's on my mind. The loss of Takumi is palpable and it's disappointing. If AA7 pops up, I can't see myself being excited unless Takumi returns (which isn't unlikely given his career silence and the Ghost Trick rerelease,) but even then, I'm like. Who gives a shit about Edgeworth. There are so many more interesting things to tap into that have been left completely unresolved from pre-AA5. I would rather have a follow-up on Iris, Kristoph, Franziska and Phoenix, and the whole Apollo/Trucy/Thalassa situation than anything Edgeworth-related. I understand he's a fan favorite (BLINK BLINK,) but there's like nothing to do with him. The bulk of his arc has been finished, I don't really care to see more of it, especially considering the more pressing matters at hand. He can have his cameos, but if he just, like, permanently moved to Europe and was never seen again, idk if I'd care. Where is Gumshoe. Riddle me that, Capcom. Iris. Missile

feenris is literally everything it makes me wanna chomp on bricks the time they spent loving each other defining their years apart and phoenix's constant faith in iris being a good person and the way his heart skipped when he saw her face again and the way she finally got to see him again because he sought her out he came for her the second he thought there was a chance she might be who he always thought she was he never stopped loving her and she never stopped loving him despite the fact that they could never be as close as they wanted to and the way it was all an accident. phoenix fell for the wrong girl and iris wasn't supposed to fall at all but she did and it was out of their control, so out of their control, but it happened and they loved each other and it was both the best and worst thing that could have come out of their circumstances. i know he kept that fucking sweater

Oh don't mind me, just once again thinking about how incredible The Great Ace Attorney games were and how I'll never recover as a person since playing them.

I wish I could experience them for the first time again, I really do, especially since I actually was so damn miserable playing through DGS1-2 over Kazuma and how fucking irritating Herlock was that I almost didn't continue the game and gave my friends and partner a horrible review of the game up til that point.

Like I went from being not very invested in case 1, to actively hating it in case 2, to halfway through case 3 realizing "wait this game is fucking incredible", to beating the second game and firmly deciding TGAAC are two of the absolute best games in the entire series hands down to the point playing the main timeline again might not be as satisfying.

Obviously I have some gripes or criticisms or even light-hearted mockery of some of the plot holes, but like. Ah. I just read someone else's long write out of how much they loved the game and the exact moment in DGS2-3 where you realize everything that was building up and I'm feeling so nostalgic for it all over again.

Also I'm so happy they made it so that Phoenix catches Maya after she falls in the anime here she just plops down at the witness stand Vera Misham style T_T

AA7 comes out. We get a ballroom case. Everyone is wearing formals. The tension between Edgeworth and Phoenix  is at an all time high. Edgeworth asks Phoenix to meet him alone in the garden. He tell Phoenix that he's in love with Iris. They get married by the end of the game.

I didn’t think I’d be listing anything I’d wish to expect from AA7, but judging from the recent official art, there is a chance that Godot may return. If that happens, the one thing I would like to see from AA7 is the return of Iris.

Let me say I do not or have ever liked Iris, but I do see great potential in her getting a better character arc than just the gullible ex girlfriend with an evil twin sister. Because of this, I want to see Capcom give this girl a better character arc and have her get a second chance with Phoenix. Yes, you heard this from a Narumitsu fangirl. I want Phoenix to have another chance with Iris and I want Iris to have a better character arc.

There will be an increase in Phoenix x Iris fanbase and I will happily join it. I’ve always favored canon ships, even despite how weak they were. Yugioh, Danny Phantom, Hay Arnold, Kim Possible, Danganronpa, Spider-Man and hell even Dragon Ball, I always loved the canon ships and carried them to my grave. The moment I began favoring noncanon ships was when the canon ships lost that spark of what made me love about them and I realized now what that was: Commitment.

Even the weakest canon ships weren’t always fluff and rainbows. Some focused on lusty reasons they were together or just never seemed capable. Dragon Ball had its good share of ships that had dumb reasons they were together and didn’t make a lick of sense (Goku X Chichi anyone?), but the fact they stuck it out and loved each other made it all worth it to favor them. Hell, after Goku died, Chichi raised her boys on her own and never wedded anybody else. Goku once had a nightmare of the villain murdering Chichi in front of him and that was considered the most traumatic for him. You gotta give them props for loving each other and sticking it out despite all the shit they deal with out of the other.

I want to see a canon ship that will stick it out and love each other. If AA7 can bring Iris back and have her date or marry Phoenix at the end, that ship will have my absolute blessing. Hell, I may consider being a fangirl of that ship (I’ll still stick with Narumitsu too, but I’ll consider it crack). For anyone that want Phoenix to end up with Edgeworth or Maya, they were never canon to begin with. At least a majority Narumitsu fans are self aware that their ship isn’t canon and don’t care. Narumayo shippers, though, I can’t say for certain. Most I see on here seem to enjoy making fun of Narumitsu shippers for using “Unnecessary Feelings” and claiming theirs is better and has more proof it’s canon (some with Narumayo in their names have blocked me from commenting, even though I’ve never talked to them lol). If Phoenix X Iris does become canon and the Narumayo shippers go apeshit, I will invite all the Narumitsu shippers to come dine with me and watch the chaos unfold lolz.

Jokes aside, no one should hate any ship or character for getting in the way of your OTP. The reason I dislike Iris is because I felt her character got the short end of the stick. I would love to see Iris get a better character arc and Phoenix to finally have his girl. And hey, maybe Maya could end up with Godot (don’t judge me!).

Don’t worry, I do want Athena to have her own game and Apollo to discover his mother and Trucy being his half sister, but I see way too many of those. If Phoenix had his game in AA7 where Godot returned and he got to finally have his girl, that would be the perfect way to end Phoenix’s character arc.

Ace Attorney Headcanon for why we haven’t seen Detective Gumshoe in a while:

The reason is because he’s so busy because he got a promotion and became the Chief of Police. Sure he’s the same old bumbling Gumshoe, but he has a good heart and inspires all the detectives under him to always work their hardest to help bring justice and try to find the correct suspect to take to court. He can finally afford something other than ramen to eat.  Also while I don’t otp it, he also got married to Maggey because Gumshoe and Maggey deserve to be happy.

Long post!! Spoilers for Turnabout Beginnings (AA3-1), possibly Reunion, and Turnabout (AA2-2), Turnabout Memories (AA3-2) and Bridge to The Turnabout (AA3-5)

After ranting and raving about how Turnabout Beginnings (Case 3-1) was set up, I decided to do something about it.

I made a Dahlia Hawthorne Redemption AU - the tags are #dahlia's redemption AU, #dahlia fey AU

I know she's a villain guys, but hear me out - in this AU, she's not. I didn't write a fanfic explaining my views for nothing. It'd make understanding the art above a lot better.

While the fanfic covers my reasoning for Dahlia's redemption, it doesn't fully explain the character reference sheet I drew. I'll go in the order I numbered the drawings in.

Dahlia cut her hair off after the events of Turnabout Beginnings. I headcanon that in the Fey clan, cutting your hair and changing its style from beads, braids and loops is strictly forbidden. Dahlia cut her hair to spite the Fey clan's oppressive family rules, but kept the twin braids to feel close to Iris, Mia and Maya.

Butterflies were Dahlia's favourite insects because they represented the freedom and safety she never felt as a kid.

I feel that Dahlia would have tried to follow in Mia's footsteps as a lawyer, though she probably would have stayed far away from the criminal aspect. She'd become a civil lawyer instead, and would probably be the co-counsel in most of the Ace Attorney cases (sorry Maya, but I don't think that just about anyone can be a co-counsel). I drew what I think is the Japanese Civil Lawyer badge, but I'm not sure if it's correct. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this part!

Since magatamas in the Ace Attorney universe can run out of energy - as seen when Pearls charges Maya's magatama so that Phoenix can use it - I think that it glows when it's fully charged and gets dimmer as you use it till it is completely drained of spiritual ability. Like Iris' magatama, Dahlia's magatama is also pink when charged.

For the timeline of AA1-AA3, I tried to show the influence of Dahlia's canon counterpart on her fashion style. While she dresses in darker clothing as an indication of her 'fall from grace', it's clothing she's more comfortable in. She still keeps butterfly motifs around, but they don't fly around her anymore. (Same can be noted for picture 9 - her casual clothing in the timeline of AA4-AA7)

From the timeline of AA1-AA3, her style of formal clothing would be similar to that of Mia's, seeing as she's got her footing in the legal world only recently.

Dahlia absolutely despises wearing traditional Fey clothes with a passion.

Same as 6.

Same as 5.

Once Dahlia establishes herself as a veteran civil lawyer, she'd probably experiment a lot with formal clothing, thereby setting herself apart from the rest of her family.

I headcanon that there are various abilities in the Fey clan, such as Elemental Manipulation (have you seen the Ace Attorney anime, Mia is an airbender for sure) and being able to communicate with spirits without summoning them, among others. I feel that Dahlia has weak illusory and telekinetic abilities, and her eyes glow pink when she uses them. The butterflies that always flew around her, as well as her ability to always appear charming and innocent were most definitely a product of her illusion powers. As for her other ability, I think that she would have experimented a little after finding out that her family could channel spirits and developed weak telekinesis. I'll probably put up a full post on the Fey clan's secondary abilities later. I also headcanon that people's eye colours change when viewing psyche-locks - both of Dahlia's eyes change colour depending on the colour of the lock (I was just too lazy to draw and colour two sets of eyes separately).
